Happy Thanksgiving

This week I learned that it's a little strange to spend such a family-oriented holiday away from family. I also learned that I almost don't think about it if I'm in a place where everyone works and goes to school just like it's any other day.

Still, I didn't spend Thanksgiving alone in my apartment with Indian take-away (though that does sound tasty); one of the girls in my program was kind enough to invite us the rest of us to the graduate students' Thanksgiving at her residence hall. Lots of food and students. It was really fun, and I stayed around and hung out with them for a while afterwards. The level of gluttony usually associated with Thanksgiving wasn't quite there. To be honest, I went and bought a slice of pizza after I left because I was still a little hungry. Still quite a good event. That doesn't mean that I'm not looking forward to spending the next major holiday in Alabama.

Speaking of which, I now have airplane tickets for that purpose. I'm landing in Atlanta on December 15th at what will feel like about midnight to me. I think most of you call it 6 pm. I hope my 18 days or so back in the States are filled with Mexican food because these people have no idea what they're doing when it comes to enchaladas.
